Senior Accessibility & QA Automation Test Engineer - Aretum

Aretum is a mission-driven federal consulting organization delivering technology-enabled solutions across defense, civilian, and homeland security sectors.

The Senior Accessibility and QA Automation Test Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for functional quality, non-functional quality, and accessibility conformance for enterprise-scale digital systems. The role works closely with Agile teams to improve quality maturity and support inclusive user experiences.

• Perform manual and automated functional testing for web applications, APIs, and integrated services.
• Execute non-functional testing, including performance and load validation.
• Conduct manual and automated accessibility testing across the SDLC.
• Validate conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level A/AA and federal accessibility standards.
• Run keyboard-only and screen reader testing with JAWS and NVDA.
• Use tools such as axe, pa11y, and ANDI and validate scan output with manual testing.
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and scripts aligned to user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Integrate functional and accessibility checks into CI/CD pipelines.
• Document test outcomes, defects, risks, and remediation guidance.
• Collaborate with developers, designers, product owners, and accessibility leads in Agile ceremonies.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (additional experience may substitute).
• 5+ years in software testing, quality engineering, or SDET roles.
• Active DHS Trusted Tester Certification.
• Experience with manual and automated testing of web applications.
• Experience with Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
• Experience with performance/load testing tools such as NeoLoad or JMeter.
• Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 concepts.
• Hands-on accessibility testing with tools such as axe, pa11y, ANDI, and Color Contrast Analyzer.
• Practical testing experience with assistive technologies including JAWS and NVDA.
• Experience working in CI/CD and Agile delivery environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration.
