Part-Time Accessibility Assistant for Philosophy Course

Penn State is hiring a part-time Accessibility Assistant to support instructional design efforts in making online Philosophy course content accessible.

The role focuses on course video review and transcript enhancement aligned to WCAG 2.1 AA requirements within a federally mandated accessibility project.

• Participate in training to develop accessible course material practices.
• Review Philosophy course videos and produce enhanced accessible transcripts.
• Follow detailed accessibility guidelines and project workflows.
• Support instructional design team deliverables and deadlines.

• Completion of 300-level and 400-level Philosophy coursework.
• Strong attention to detail and strong written communication skills.
• Interest in accessibility, educational technology, and inclusive educational practices.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to complete required Penn State background check process.

• Prior experience with captioning/transcript editing or instructional content QA.
• Familiarity with accessibility principles for online learning.
